As close as you can get to authentic Italian Thin-Crust Pizza.

Situated at Marina Bay City Gallery, Verve Pizza Bar is an alfresco dining experience that promises to bring you the most authentic Italian pizza. Unlike most restaurants or bistros that claim the same thing, Verve actually has something to boast about. In my opinion, the aspect that defines the quality of a pizza, is the crust. The thickness, the freshness and the softness. Verve has hit me in the right spot. This is my second time trying a Parma Ham pizza at a different place and this is my pick out of the two. Somehow, the rockets-lookalikes (arugula) here weren’t too strong and instead provided the contrasting texture and flavour to the otherwise savoury parma ham. The crust could not be more perfect as the foundation of a pizza. Did I mention that I absolutely dig the extra big parmesan shavings sprinkled on the top?

Corleone Pizza (S$28)

This is a special creation that mixes the East and the West. If you’re a fan of Peking Duck and pizza, then you need to try this. Shreds of duck meat with the sweet sauce goes exceptionally well with the pizza dough. Not to be missed.

P.S First bite is always the best.

Last but not least, let me introduce to you my new favourite pizza. This magical combination of bacon and mushroom is just amazingly delicious. Bits of saltiness mixed with a tinge of fungi. OMG. you have no idea until you have tasted this one hell of a good pizza.

Pumpkin is actually a fruit.

I always had a distant relationship with pumpkin. Its just like how you would stay away from squash or parsnip. Rare commodities that you would find on your daily meal. But this was before I came face-to-face with the fruit. Twice.

When I ordered this dessert dish to try, I honestly had no expectation. It was based on a recommendation. So, the skeptical me only took half of a piece to taste. But ho and behold, I had no idea that I would be stuffing my face with seconds. Or more than that. Baked from a pumpkin paste, the pancake possesses a mild level of sweetness from the fruit, topped off with a fine layer of icing sugar. Sweet but not too sweet. Definitely one of the best desserts I have ever tried in a Chinese restaurant.

Like I said, I was never a big fan of pumpkin, before I had the pumpkin dessert at Paradise Dynasty, so here I am having a try at another variation of the orange fruit. 

I was caught by surprise by the mild sweetness of the soup, boosted by a light tasting broth. Smooth and creamy, it not only whets your appetite but keeps you wanting for more.

All-time favourite.

Every single time I’m at Old Town White Coffee, this is the only dish that I will order, besides the toast of course. One of the specialities in the chain outlet, this bowl of wholesome goodness just makes me beg for more. I can eat this almost everyday and never get sick of it. Its not about the bits of prawn or chicken chunks, but the light and sweet broth that is actually the vital key for this dish. The perfect combination for the bland flat rice noodles, you will find yourself lapping up every drop of the soup. I kid you not. If you have not tried this at Old Town, you have no idea what you’re missing out.
